There is no longer any point for the public to communicate in a dialogue of what is wrong with Yucca opposition politics. In spite of the statement, “junk science" media buzz, “junk politics” continues its unfounded opposition to the most analyzed and over-analyzed rock on the planet.
The public has to divorce itself from this political dialogue and focus on educating the grassroots to thetruth of the science and engineering and redirect The Yucca Mountain Project to a grassroots educational  “ISSUES INITIATIVE”.

Senator Marco Rubio: "Yeah . . . we've already invested money into that facility . . . there has to be such a facility in the United States. That's the one that was chosen long ago, and money was invested. If someone has a better idea...then we'd be open to that. We should follow the science on that. But the bottom line is we, today, including here in South Carolina, are holding onto nuclear material in areas that were supposed to be temporary areas, that have become permanent holding areas for used, radioactive material, and long-term, that is not a safe way to store these things. So you do need a permanent, central depository for it. Yucca Mountain is the place that's gotten the money, and it was chosen years ago. So unless someone can identify a better project, that's the one we should move forward on."

Dr. Ben Carson: "it's time to at least have a discussion . . . if the science is correct.
USNEF, the science is correct and this is the message our government needs to get to the grassroots public in Nevada and to the nation. The final Yucca Mountain Application Study Safety Reports have been completed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). “NRC staffers released the final two parts of their five-part safety (NRC) review Thursday, JAN-29, 2015 finding that Yucca Mountain would meet safety requirements during the time it is in operation and before its permanent closure”. Our citizens have a right to the technical determination studies of our national laboratories and such studies should not be obstructed by politics. GJDuarte, USNEF 

Senator Ted Cruz: USNEF has initiated a staff request for Senator Cruz to respond to our question, yay or nay for completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Study.

Governor Scott Walker: USNEF sent Governor Walker our informational material about Yucca Mountain including a couple DVDs of our 2013 Yucca Educational Symposium. He provided the courtesy of a reply to our letter on March 18, 2015. Although Governor Walker has withdrawn from the presidential race, we believe he generally supported the congressional process concerning the Yucca Mountain study. Mr. Trump is in receipt of a couple packages of our USNEF information on Yucca Mountain. His reply was, "yes, something has to be done about that".

Carly Fiorina: Has publically stated that she supports completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Review Process. She accepted our USNEF grassroots educational materials about the extensive science study behind Yucca Mountain.

Sharron Angle: USNEF has been in contact with a Number of canidates and other stakeholders over the years seeking support of our "completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Study". Sharron Angle signed on to our Yucca educational initiative several years ago.

Jim Wheeler Assemblyman: has also been a USNEF supporter over the past years agreeing with our mission for "completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Study". Jim is a signator of our statement and he represents parts of rural Nevada.

Michele Fiorie: Supports USNEF and our "completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Study". She is a member of the Transportation and Commrerce and Labor committees. Both of which stand to benefit from a Yucca Mountain build. 

As soon as we open any dialogue concerning spent nuclear fuel, many people seek an answer to our ability to REPROCESS nuclear waste. Yes we can, and yes, that technology is fluid and advancing. HOWEVER, what we must remember as we build anything is is one step at a time. We "could" reprocess this fuel but the first step remains to get it to Yucca FIRST. Sue Lowden: also batteled Sharron Angle in the race for Harry Reid's seat in Nevada. Ms. Lowden has been gracious enough to support our USNEF efforts on Yucca Mountain, signed onto our Application Completion request and understands the economic value of Yucca to the State of Nevada. 

The business potential of Yucca Mountain for all Nevadan's is apolitical. It is politics, that has made the Yucca Mountain Repository a political argument instead of a science and engineering call.

Dr. Alan Waltar: Supports of our "completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Study". He is one of the signators of our statement. He was the keynote speaker at our USNEF presentation during the American Nuclear Society meeting in Reno, 2006. Dr. Waltar is a retired Senior Advisor as Director of Nuclear Energy to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Richland, Washington. He was also Professor and Head of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he helped to build that program into the largest Department of Nuclear Engineering in the nation. Dr. Waltar is a Fellow and Past President of the 16,000+ member American Nuclear Society. He is also author of the book “Radiation and Modern Life” - Fulfilling Marie Curie’s Dream” and “America the Powerless” He serves as well as a consultant to the IAEA and the U.S. Department of Energy. Dr. Waltar was instrumental in the formation of the World Nuclear University Summer Institute (SI) and has served as a mentor and a member of the faculty for the Inaugural SI in Idaho Falls, Idaho, SI in Stockholm, Sweden, SI in South Korea and the SI United Kingdom sessions.

Lisa Krasner, Nevada Assembly, District-26: She is one of a few Nevada policy makers willing to support completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Review Process. Having attended our USNEF 2013 Yucca Educational Symposium may have been helpful in providing conclusive information about the science & engineering behind the Yucca Mountain study.

Former Congressman: Dr. Joe Heck "I believe that the Department of Energy, Yucca Mountain Application Review Process should be completed." It is the law.

Mark Amodei, Nevada Congressman: Has responded many of our inquiries concerning the Yucca Mountain program. In 2013 he participated in our Yucca Educational Symposium in Reno, NV. He was instrumental In inviting Illinois Congressman John Shimkus a long time Congressional supporter for the completion of Yucca Mountain.

John Shimkus: Participated In our 2013 YES Symposium through the invitation of Mark Amodei. Shimkus is a supporter for the completion of Yucca Mountain. Coming from Illionos he represents at state with the largest number of nuclear plants in the country and the University of Chicago conducted the first nuclear reaction in 1942. Illionos at that time was the epicenter of nuclear development.
Our biggest hurdle is finding politicians willing to "assess" Yucca Mountain based on its science studyINSTEAD of folding to Nevada politics. Our goal is to provide our Yucca educational information to grassroots Nevada and their assessment will reverse the politics. Government, industry and education FAILED the American public on nuclear technology awareness. Cresent Hardy: March, 2015, Hardy: "Time for Nevada to talk Yucca Mountain". This story in the Las Vegas Review Journal certainly stirred up discussion again. USNEF has sent multiple comminications informing his staff about our USNEF grassroots educational efforts.
We have made the case to all of our political messaging that elected officials are supposed to represent the grassroots public. The problem faced by the public is that WE are not provided the necessary educational data concerning the ISSUES such as Yucca and other programs by government or the industry to provide an adequate understanding by the public.

Mr. Jack Spencer: oversees Heritage Foundation research on a wide range of domestic economic issues as the Vice President for the Institute for Economic Freedom and Opportunity.? Those topics include federal spending, taxes, energy and environment, regulation and retirement savings. Before his promotion to Director of the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation.  Spencer specialized in nuclear energy issues in both the domestic and global arenas as Heritage’s senior research fellow in nuclear energy policy. He was Heritage’s go-to expert on nuclear waste management, technological advances, industry subsidies and international approaches to nuclear energy. Spencer also researched regulation of the industry, proliferation issues, the global energy market and national security uses for nuclear power. Much of his work centered on developing a comprehensive, subsidy-free, market-based approach to nuclear energy policy. That strategy includes fighting to preserve Yucca Mountain as a safe repository for nuclear materials. Spencer has testified before Congress on related topics, including nuclear loan guarantees and international implications of the growth of commercial nuclear power. The President’s Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future heard his testimony in 2010 on how to introduce market forces into public policy for safely managing nuclear waste.

Bruce Marlow, Vice President, AREVA, (retired 2014) As a 41 year veteran of AREVA, Bruce has been supporting the successful operations of the Nuclear Power Industry by driving Innovation and training along with leading large integrated projects.  Currently, Bruce supports AREVA’s business interest throughout the West and is highly evolved in the dynamics of Energy and Water.  During the past year and half, Bruce has been the Integrated Site Manager leading the AREVA Team working to return the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) back to service. Before becoming a Vice President, Mr. Marlow served as the General Manger of Conam/Rockridge, an AREVA legacy company where he was responsible for all Business Development, Project Execution and Technology Advancement. He developed Conam from a $2.5 million company in 1980 into a $40 million organization in 7 years. In 1997, Conam generated 70% of the operating income of AREVA North America.  Mr. Marlow has worked at every Pressurizer Water Reactor (PWR) in the US and several in Japan and Europe.

Robert F. Edmonds, Jr. As Director, Business Development for AREVA Federal Services LLC (AFS), Mr. Edmonds leads the company’s sales to the federal market sector, with a particular focus on the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle, including management, transportation, storage, and disposition of Used Nuclear Fuel and High Level Radioactive Waste.  Prior to joining AFS, he was Business Development Director for Duke Engineering and Services, a subsidiary of Duke Energy.  For the past 20 years he has been actively involved in Used Nuclear Fuel and High Level Radioactive Waste policy development at the federal and state levels. AFS and legacy companies have been participants on the Yucca Mountain Project since the inception and were most recently a part of the Department of Energy’s Management and Operations contractor team when the project was temporarily suspended.  Mr. Edmonds has an MS, degree in Water Resources Engineering, Clemson University BS, Civil Engineering, Clemson University.

CDR Kirk S. Lippold “Gary - I have tried to work my schedule every way I can to make this conference fit but regrettably, I will not be able to attend. Lippold, U.S. Navy (ret) was Commanding Officer of the USS Cole when it came under attack by al-Qaeda suicide bombers on October 12, 2000, in the port of Aden, Yemen. During his command, he and his crew distinguished themselves by saving the guided missile destroyer from sinking. The attack on the USS Cole was one of the most brazen acts of terrorism by al Qaeda prior to September 11, 2001. CDR Lippold has addressed our USNEF Foundation and he supports nuclear energy and the Yucca Mountain Storage Facility.

Dan Schinhofen: Former vice-chair of the Nye County Commission. Nye and 8 other Nevada Counties have signed petitions requesting completion of the Yucca Mountain Application Study.

Nye and several NV Counties have been instrumental in moving a continued dialogue on Yucca MT. Our Nevada rural Counties understand the need for development in rural Nevada areas and the Yucca Project would help justify expanded rail and road services throughout Nevada. These activities would provide growth for many rural Nevada communities and serve to provide a much more connected routes to the major cities. GJD USNEF.

Dr. Nicholas Tsoulfanidis: received a B.S., Physics, University of Athens, Greece, 1960 a M.S., in Nuclear Engineering (NE), University of Illinois, 1965 and a Ph.D., in NE, University of Illinois, 1968. In 1968 he joined the faculty of the NE program University of Missouri-Rolla, There, he served until 2004 as a faculty member, Chairman of the Department, Interim Vice Chancellor for academic Affairs and Associate Dean of the School of Mines and Metallurgy for Graduate Studies and Research for more than 10 years. In addition to his teaching and administrative duties he performed research in the area of radiation transport, radiation protection/health physics, and the Nuclear Fuel Cycle. He has written numerous technical papers and a text entitled “Measurement and Detection of Radiation”, its 3rd Edition out in November 2010; He is the co-author of the book “The Nuclear Fuel cycle: Analysis and Management”; the 3rd edition of this book will appear in September 2012.  He did consulting work for electric Utilities and the NRC. Since June 1997, Dr. Tsoulfanidis is serving the Editor of Nuclear Technology, an international technical Journal published by the American Nuclear Society [ANS]. During the period July 1 2005- July 31 2007 he served as Interim Chair of the Chemical & Metallurgical Engineering Department at the University of Nevada ?Reno. He is now an Adjunct Professor at UNR and at the University of Utah.

Relative to the Yucca MT “ISSUE” question, below is resolution # 2012-5-5-04 adopted by the entire body of the 2012 Nevada Republican Party. Resolutions such as this that are proposed by the grassroots public, and ignored by the elected officers of the state, cause division within the party. This is happening on a national basis and they produce political obstruction by both major parties.

Energy Independence and Economic Diversification

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada and its citizens have a special interest in seeing nuclear technology development towards the scientific, educational and economic benefits potential it would bring to our state, 

WHEREAS, recent evaluations by Nevada’s departments of Commerce and Labor have identified a critical need for economic diversification. A nuclear industry in our state would employ thousands of Nevadan’s, contribute billions of dollars to Nevada’s economy, realize our state’s urgent need for economic diversification, and provide a robust electrical generation and distribution infrastructure,

WHEREAS, Nevadan’s realize the need to be fully educated on the Yucca Mountain Project and that our state and federal government have inadequately investigated and educated the public on the science and engineering of this project,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Nevada Republican Party advocates that the citizens of Nevada bring the issue of the Yucca Mountain Project to a public referendum,

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Nevada Republican Party urges Governor Sandoval to create a bipartisan Nuclear Energy Commission to study and promote nuclear power technology in Nevada
