Former Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman, who served under former President George W. Bush, has died at the age of 79. Before serving as energy chief, Bodman served in the Commerce and Treasury departments. A trained chemical engineer, he also previously served as CEO of Cabot Corporation, a Boston-based chemical company.

I met Mr. Bodman at a 2007 ANS convention in Boston.

 

 

 

have been fortunate enough to catch a good portion of the media coverage of Senator McCain’s services. My sadness is how much America needs to find Senators like John McCain who put truth and integrity before partisan politics. I am certainly honored that he served America during my lifetime. As everybody knows, when I began my USNEF foundation efforts supporting nuclear technology and Yucca Mountain, he was a target of our message. Yes, he accepted our information and yes, he supported nuclear energy AND the Yucca Mountain program. My sadness is how much America needs statesmen as Senator McCain instead of self-serving politicians. Lord, allow Senator McCain, a tireless warrior, the rest he has earned. Amen

Ike was a founding Member, Reno Christian Fellowship, Reno, NV
Reno - Barlane (Ike) Ronald Eichbaum went to be with the Lord peacefully while sleeping October 1, 2018. He lived a long full life of 92 years.

Ike was born on September 1, 1926, in Milltown, New Jersey to Grace Wolfe Eichbaum and William Alexander Eichbaum. He is survived by his brother Charles Eichbaum. His parents, brother, William, and sister, Marjorie, have preceded him in death. He married Beatrice May Roth on August 26, 1950, and they had recently celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary. Ike and Bea have three daughters Susanne Bashista, husband, Steve, children David (Amanda) Bashista, Jimmy (Lauren) Bashista, and Kristen Quinton; Virginia Anderson, husband, John, son Timothy Anderson; and Nancy Radford, husband Russ, and son Brian Chapin; along with 7 great-grandsons, Alex (15), Luke (13), Brad (10), Jake (10), Tyler (8), Dominik (12) and Dylan (11) Bashista. Ike felt especially blessed to live long enough to know and love these young men.

Ike's priorities were God, family, country and work, in that order. He and Bea attended Reno Christian Fellowship for almost 50 years. They were one of the founding families and were dedicated to serving the Lord and glorifying God through their lives. He has left a lasting legacy of love and honor to his wife Bea. The family has been blessed through their lives and commitment to their marriage vows all these years. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and would do anything for his family. Most of you will remember the photo album he would take out of his pocket to show off his grand and great grandchildren! Ike was deeply patriotic and supported America as a member of the armed services during World War II. He also stood up for issues in our country and backed his political party. Ike fought for various matters in the community that impacted the people of Reno and his neighborhood.

Ike had a keen mind and used his engineering degree from Rutgers's University and PhD in Ceramic Engineering from University of Texas, to benefit all the companies in which he was employed throughout his career. He had several accomplishments that left their mark in history. As part of a team, he invented the first super computer, the "Stretch Project" for IBM. Ike worked on Top Secret nuclear power projects, military tracking software and at the US Bureau of Mines. He put together the team that made the first Lear steam engine and Lear fan in Stead, Nevada, and had 42 engineering patents. He also wrote a book called Awake America and several years ago revised it for its second publication.

Ike had many character qualities worth noting. He was tenacious in standing up for what was right and Biblical. He was outspoken against evil and wrong doing; quick to demonstrate love for Bea and the family, and protective of his children and grandchildren. Ike was especially concerned about others and their salvation through Jesus Christ and willingly spoke of God's love for us all. While he was short on patience, he made up for it through his many other qualities. The family will miss Ike but each have a lifetime of memories to cherish.

The Memorial Service will be held at Reno Christian Fellowship, 1700 Zolezzi Lane, on Sunday, October 7, at 4:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. There will also be an Interment Service in Fernley at the Northern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on 14 Veterans Way, Tuesday, October 9, at 11:00 am including a full color guard honor display.
